Fans of the The Cong Football Club undoubtedly could not forget a team representing all soldiers in green uniform. They had dominated the Vietnamese football for years thanks to their professional competence, fair play and dedication. Many players of the team served in the national football squad in the past; however, it has disappeared from the Vietnam football’s map for almost nine years.

Central defender Bui Tien Dung is the most outstanding player of the Viettel Football Club

Several players, who retired a long time ago such as Manh Hai, Hong Son, Viet Hoang, Quang Ha, or Phuong Nam, have become great names in the Vietnamese football’s history. The military saluting style to celebrate a goal or matches with full of audience are unforgettable moments to their supporters.

Since 2010, the Military-Run Industry and Telecommunication Group (Viettel), the owner of the Viettel Football Club (the successor of the The Cong Football Club), has set a strategic plan to develop the club’s young players towards 2019.

The Viettel Sport Center is one of the top football training establishments in Vietnam with modern facilities. In recent years, young players of the club won many domestic tournaments. In addition, outstanding faces such as Tien Dung, Van Hao or Trong Dai are usually selected for the national squad.

According to Senior Colonel Ha Huu Tam, Deputy Director of the Viettel Sport Center, these achievements resulted from not only efforts of players but also the whole-hearted assistance of all personnel and staff of the center.

With its newly promotion to the Nuti Café V-League 1 and its plan to regain the name of “The Cong”, the club’s supporters have reason to hope for a brighter future of the team under the name.
