With great efforts, Cyclist Huynh Thanh Tung of Military Region 7 team successfully reached the finishing line first after 1 hour 15 minutes 44 seconds, wining the final stage. He was followed by Nguyen Minh Luan from Premium Cycling Vinh Long team and Loic Desriac from Bike Life Dong Nai team.
After the final race, the organizing panel held a ceremony to conclude the over-700km-long race from Hanoi to Quang Tri ancient citadel - the symbol of the indomitable spirit and courage of Quang Tri people in particular and the Vietnamese people in general.
The organizing panel presents the first prize to Cyclist Nguyen Cuong Khang, second and third prizes to cyclists Nguyen Tan Hoai and Le Nguyet Minh.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Senior Colonel Phung Kim Lan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper, stressed that the support and encouragement of the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics, civilian and military units, agencies, and businesses, and local people made the tournament successful.
Taking place from July 15 to 20, the tournament is considered a golden chance for cyclists to show their talent, indomitable spirit, and strength as well as for the present generations to pay gratitude to those sacrificing themselves and contributed to the national construction and defense cause.
Before presenting prizes to the outstanding cyclists and teams, the organizers offered incense at the Ancient Citadel Monument in commemoration of contributions and sacrifices of fallen soldiers to the national liberation and defense cause and presented two houses and 20 gifts to local policy beneficiaries and 25 scholarships to needy students with excellent academic records.
After six stages, Cyclist Nguyen Cuong Khang from the Ho Chi Minh City youth team excellently defended his yellow jersey and won the-best-cyclist prize. Second and third prizes went to Nguyen Tan Hoai from Domesco Dong Thap and Le Nguyet Minh from the VUS (Vietnam USA Society English Centers) team in Ho Chi Minh City.
Thanks to the efforts and unity of the whole team, the An Giang Plant Protection team bagged the first group prize, while Ho Chi Minh and Bike Life Dong Nai teams received second and third prizes, respectively.
At the ceremony, the organizing panel also presented other prizes to cyclists and teams with good performances during the race.
