Nguyen Thi That (centre) wins the Asian gold medal.

This is the second time that the Vietnamese cyclist has championed at a continental tournament. Earlier, That won a gold medal at the Asian Championships in Malaysia in 2018.

This year, Vietnam sent four cyclists, namely Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, and Bui Thi Quynh to join the peloton event of the Asian Cycling Championship. The event attracted the participation of 40 competitors, including top cyclists in Asia.

With the performance of 3 hours 11 minutes 37 seconds, Nguyen Thi That reached the finish line first in the 111 km event and won the gold medal.

The peloton event saw the participation of strong Asian cyclists, including those from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the host Tajikistan. The Vietnamese team developed a special strategy to make the most of That’s strength.

With the encouragement of her teammates and her energy, in the last 200m, That sped up and reached the finish line first.
