Fifteen int'l delegations register to join 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships
As many as 15 international delegations, and the host Vietnam, with 1,342 athletes and officials, have registered to join the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships, which will be organized in the Northern coastal province of Quang Ninh from December 6-9.
The Department of Party and Political Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security on November 14 announced a decision on establishing the tournament's 19-member organizing board, while holding a meeting to discuss issues related to Vietnam's preparations.

The event will feature two competitions - one for policemen from Asian countries while the other for children, teenagers, young people, and the elderly. It is expected to attract 1,500 participants from 20 delegations.
Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Sports Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the agency, with its experience in organizing major international tournaments, stands ready to provide maximum support for organizing the event, especially in refereeing.
The 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships will be held by the Vietnam People's Police Sports Association and the World Police Taekwondo Federation (WPTF) and a number of other units. The Seoul-based World Taekwondo Academy (WTA), known as Kukkiwon, said it is willing to support Vietnam in organizing the event.
The WPTF has posted information about the tournament and invited police groups and individuals to join in. Registrations must be submitted from October 13 to November 30, 2024.
The tournament creates an opportunity to affirm the bravery and talent of public security forces of Vietnam, thus promoting the development of high-performance sports in the Vietnam People's Public Security force.
