ASEAN Para Games 13: Vietnam adds athletics gold
Vietnam continued its strong showing at the 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, as the national para athletics team won one gold medal and six silvers on January 23, making a significant contribution to the overall medal tally of the Vietnam Para Sports delegation.
The day’s gold medal was secured by Nguyen Thi Hai in the women’s shot put (F57), with an impressive throw of 8.28 meters, confirming Vietnam’s strength in its key athletics events. Her teammate Nguyen Thi Kieu took the silver medal in the same event with a throw of 7.57 meters.

Vietnam also collected five additional silver medals across other disciplines, with podium finishes by Tran Van Nguyen (men’s javelin, F40), Kieu Minh Trung (men’s discus, F55), Ngo Thi Lan Thanh (women’s javelin, F55), Do Ngoc Thang (men’s shot put, F11), and Pham Xuan Huy (men’s long jump, T46).
The results highlighted the team’s depth and versatility across multiple events, reflecting thorough preparation and consistent performance by Vietnamese para athletes at this year’s games.
After three days of competition, Vietnam’s para athletics team has won a total of 22 medals, including five golds, 11 silvers, and six bronzes, reinforcing its important role in the delegation’s overall success at the ASEAN Para Games 13.
