Vietnam booked a ticket to compete in the 2020 AFC U23 Championship’s final as they topped their Group K qualifying round after a perfect record of three wins and 11 goals, while conceding none.
Aside from Thailand, who have a place as the hosts, Vietnam are the sole ASEAN representatives qualifying for the final.
As the runners-up of the continental football tournament in 2018, Vietnam have been placed in the first pot along with defending champions Uzbekistan, third-place winners Qatar, and hosts Thailand.
The 2020 AFC U23 Championship final round’s draw is set to be held in October, while the tournament will take place from January 8- 26, 2020 in Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok and Pathum Thani province.
The best three teams will gain tickets to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan. If hosts Japan are among the winners, the fourth-placed team will earn the last Olympic spot.
