Winners of fourth National Book Awards honored
PANO – The Vietnam Publishing Association held a ceremony on November 12 in Hanoi to honor winners of the fourth National Book Awards.
The event was attended by Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

This year awards welcomed the participation of 47 publishing houses nationwide with 365 books and book collections. After the qualifying and final rounds, the Council for the fourth National Book Awards selected 24 books and book collections to award.
Particularly, the organizers handed over two A, nine B, and 13 C prizes to authors.
The two A prizes went to “Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies” (Jared Diamond), a translated book by Tran Tien Cao Dang published by The gioi Publishing House and Vietnam Omega Book Plus Joint Stock Company, and “Chang hoang da – Gau” (Wild Chang-Bear), a picture story book by Trang Nguyen and Jeet Zdung published by Kim Dong Publishing House.
The winning books and book collections are evaluated as creative and humane works or elaborated scientific researches with realistic values.
