This year’s festival will take place from September 25 to 30 (the 15th to the 20th day of the eighth lunar month) at the special national relic site of Tran Thuong Temple in Ninh Binh province.

The opening ceremony will officially be held on the evening of September 26 (the 16th day of the eighth lunar month). The highlight of the opening night will be an artistic program entitled “Sacred marks forever illuminating the heritage,” staged by director and scriptwriter Le The Song.

The festival will feature a series of unique cultural, sporting, and spiritual activities. Notable events include the ninth festival of Hau Thanh (Saint-incarnation) ritual practice, an experiential education program named “Journey tracing Tran Thuong granary” and folk games for students, and the seventh “I love the history of Tran Thuong Temple” contest. In addition, there will be the third exchange among Tran Thuong Temple’s festival drum teams, Chinese chess and tug-of-war competitions, a contest of cooking offerings to the Saint, a flower lantern release ceremony and folk song performances on Tran Thuong Lake, along with an artistic program “Tran Thuong Festival Night 2026.”

Historically, Tran Thuong Temple is dedicated to Grand Duke Tran Hung Dao, his family members, and generals of the Tran Dynasty. The Tran Thuong area was closely associated with the Tran Dynasty’s granary system during the second resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol invaders in 1285.

Thanks to these significant values, Tran Thuong Temple was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1989 and upgraded to a special national relic by the Prime Minister in 2015. In 2017, the Tran Thuong Temple Festival was officially inscribed on the national intangible cultural heritage list.
