Newspaper photographer to display works at U.S.-based exhibition
Viet Van Tran, a photographer from the Lao Dong Newspaper, has been selected to join others of a free-to-enter online Salon of Photography, entitled “The Connected World: 2020” capturing moments of time in the U.S. and around the world this year.
The event, a joint project between the Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) and the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) in San Diego to acknowledge the importance of photography and art in capturing historic world events, is scheduled to run from October 24 to December 31.

Its seven-member jury selected 68 entries from 58 photographers for the exhibition out of those from 300 candidates around the globe. Van was the only Vietnamese at the event.
His picture to be exhibited, titled “Noi am anh” (Obsession), captures the six-year-old girl Khanh Han standing in front of a painting on the COVID-19 theme by her farther – painter Nguyen Tan Phat. The work was ranked among the top 20 best photos at the Better Photography Magazine Photo of the Year 2020’s Emotive Portrait Category.
