Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu speaks at the press conference.

The congress will attract the participation of 138 delegates, including 119 outstanding young writers nationwide and 19 members of the Vietnamese Writers’ Association aged under 35.

This year’s congress has the largest number of delegates compared to the most recent congresses, with the youngest writer named Tran Phu Minh Anh, a high school student from Ho Chi Minh City born in 2007. Most of the young writers are aged between 22 and 30.

Delegates do different jobs, such as engineers, doctors, journalists, teachers, businessmen, police, officers, farmers, civil servants, officials and even freelancers. Many have received literary awards and published works.

Hanoi has the most delegates, followed by Ho Chi Minh City.

Within the framework of the conference, there will be a field visit to Thaco Group and Chu Lai economic park in Quang Nam, and a seminar themed “Literature and national modernization and industrialization cause.”

Two workshops on poetry and prose to discuss the attitude and responsibility of writers towards life and society and to answer the question “Why do we write?,” a visit to Hy Vong school - FPT-funded school for COVID-19-orphaned children, and a gala night will also be held.
