The 16th annual Bay Nui bull race has been held at Thom Mit pagoda, Vinh Ha hamlet, Vinh Trung commune, Tinh Bien district, An Giang province.

This year’s event drew the participation of 70 pairs of bulls and over 500,000 visitors from throughout the country.

Bull racing is a traditional sport event of Khmer people in Mekong river delta. It remains in Bay Nui region in An Giang province and usually falls on the occasion of the Dolta Traditional festival in two districts Tinh Bien and Tri Ton.

Since 1992, the central and local authorities have invested in developing the event, turning it into one of the country’s cultural sporting festival.

An Giang province plans to turns it into a national level festivity.
