PANO – The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ha Giang provincial People’s Committee opened an exhibition, themed “The Hoang Sa (Paracel), Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos belonging to Vietnam – Historical and legal evidence” on July 26th at the provincial museum.

At the exhibition, a number of documents, objects and maps, collected by scholars and researchers at home and abroad are on display. Especially, many documents are written in Han-Nom scripts (old written Chinese and Vietnamese), in Vietnamese and French, which were published by Vietnamese feudal dynasties and the French administration in Indochina from the 17th century to the early 20th century, affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos.

The exhibits also include 65 maps, issued by Vietnam and Western countries from the 17th century; images and items about Vietnam’s activities of determining, enforcing and maintaining its sovereignty over the two archipelagoes, and socio-economic, cultural development activities on Truong Sa island district in the national industrialization and modernization process.

The exhibition will run until July 30th.

Earlier, the Ministry and the provincial People’s Committee also held a training course on July 25th on sea and islands information dissemination for local leaders and press agencies.
