The contest drew the participation of 68 students from the four secondary schools of Van Duc, Tran Hung Dao, Chu Van An, and Sao Do in the province.

Speaking at the event, Major General Tran Van Xuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, held that the contest aimed to raise awareness of teachers, students and locals on Vietnam’s sea and islands, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982, the Law of the Sea of Vietnam in 2012, the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard in 2018, and functions and missions of the coast guards.
It is also expected to promote patriotism, love for the national sea and islands, and responsibilities in safeguarding the sacred sovereignty over national sea and islands among the teachers and students, as well as enhance solidarity and understanding between the coast guard troops and the local people, he added.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command presented 9 gifts, including VND 2 million in cash each, to heroic Vietnamese mothers and national contributors, and 38 gifts, including VND 1 million in cash each, to wounded and sick soldiers.
They also presented 90 bikes to needy students of the Primary and Secondary Schools of Van Duc, Hung Dao, Chu Van An, and Sao Do.
