Hue relic site welcomes one millionth tourist

The central province of Thua Thien Hue held a ceremony on July 1 to welcome this year’s the one millionth tourist to the ancient imperial relic site in Hue city, which is a UNESCO-recognised World Heritage site.
The lucky visitor, Ho Mai Phuong from Hanoi capital, was presented will a free pass to all relics at the site valid for her entire life and a two-night stay for two people at four-star Huong Giang hotel. She also received two bottles of special royal wine and 2 million VND in cash.
According to Director of the Hue Relics Preservation Centre Phan Thanh Hai, in the first half of 2014, the site earned 75 billion VND (3.5 million USD) from ticket fees, equivalent to 65 percent of the yearly target.
He added that the centre plans to offer more tourist services from now to the end of the year, such as cruises on royal boats on Huong River and royal banquets.
Apart from the Hue ancient imperial city, Thua Thien-Hue province boasts various tourist attractions, such as one of the world’s most beautiful bay, Lang Co.
Its destinations for spiritual tourism such as Truc Lam Zen Monastery and old pagodas also attract a large number of holiday-makers.
From now to the end of this year, the locality plans to organise more tourism promotion activities, particularly in September and December, and offer more diverse tourist products to attract more visitors.
