With four acres of vegetables and fruit trees, Tran Van Bau, a resident in Ha Thanh village, is adaptable to technology even in his seventies. Bau installed cameras in the vegetable growing area and made QR code available in front of his house gate. Customers just need to use their smartphones to scan the code to know all information about the types of plants and the process of taking care of them.
“This QR code is for me to sell products. When they (customers) scan it, they will know the garden area, types of plants, the process of caring for and fertilizing plants and environmental sanitation to make sure whether the vegetables are clean or not. I have a smartphone. Thanks to smart technology, old people like me receive information very quickly,” Bau said.

Attentively, when households have products, such as vegetables, tubers, fruits, chickens, eggs for sale, they just need to take photos, record videos, report the quantity and upload them on the village’s Zalo account. The buyers or cooperatives’ managers will purchase or introduce them on the e-commerce platform. Thanks to being monitored, the local farm produce is always guaranteed in quality, has clear traceability and can be easily consumed on e-commerce platforms.
According to Hoang Thanh Tam, another resident of Ha Thanh village, “since the implementation of digital transformation and the application of smart technology, work has become much more convenient and easier. Furthermore, the working style has become newer, more modern, and work efficiency has also increased many times.”
Head of Ha Thanh village Nguyen Van Loc, said that apart from product consumption support, smart technology has helped producers learn about weather forecast in a short period of time thanks to voice simulation technology being applied in the village. Through an application installed on a smartphone, locals only need to open the app and ask about the weather to get full information. This technology can give weather forecast for three days, completely automatically, with rather high accuracy. Based on it, villagers fertilize, sow seeds, and improve production efficiency.
To ensure smooth operation of the smart technology system, the entire Ha Thanh village is currently covered in free wifi. Wifi-connected, the security camera system in the village operates around the clock, helping maintain safety and order in the village. In addition, people can interact, exchange, and post useful information about science and technology, policies, and other areas to support each other in production and life.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuong Son commune Duong Kim Tuan said that digital economy has also been deployed quite intensively when the commune's OCOP products are listed on the e-commerce platform postmart.vn at the address postmart.com.vn. The official added that the commune is focusing on disseminating information, providing guidance, increasing the number of people paying living expenses, such as electricity, water, taxes, and insurance through banks’ digital apps.
With many practical utilities demonstrated in the life of Ha Thanh village, Ha Tinh province, smart technology application models are planned to be multiplied in districts, cities and towns of the province. Many locals now believe that digital transformation, smart technology have been changing production mindset, increasing income for farmers in the province in the time ahead.
