PANO – The Centre for the development of women in the Mekong River Delta region held a practical program on April 7th to present water tanks to needy people in saline intrusion-hit localties in Ben Tre.

Locals receiving water tanks

The social activity demonstrates the concern and strong sense of responsibility of the community for those in need, aimed at  easing difficulties confronting local people, as well as at promoting solidarity among people.

In the past, the prolonged drought and salinization have caused water shortages for domestic use and production in Mekong River Delta provinces. Many locals can not afford to buy water for daily use, as well as water tanks. The centre decided to present these practical gifts to partly ease these difficulties.
