Tet gifts for people in need in Soc Trang province |
On February 10, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man and leadership of Soc Trang province inquired after and presented Tet gifts to families of revolutionary contributors, poor people and victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Thuan Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district, Soc Trang province.
The committee and the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee also gifted 50 policy beneficiaries in the commune.
* The Organs of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army organized delegations to visit and extend Tet greetings to 19 Vietnamese heroic mothers, relatives of seven Vietnamese heroic mothers fostered by the organs. They also presented gifts to wounded soldiers, relatives of fallen soldiers, needy retired officers and laborers as well as presented Tet gifts to twinned units in the stationed area.
* The Army Corps 4 Command and its affiliates spent over VND 10 billion in caring policy beneficiaries ahead the traditional Tet. They visited convalescent centers for wounded soldiers, poor people, national contributors and troops’ families. They also handed over more than 6,570 gifts in both cash and kind to people in need in remote and mountainous areas, Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded and sick soldiers and victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
* In the charity program carried out in Tan Lap commune, Bac Son district, Lang Son province, the Logistics Museum under the Political Department of the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People’s Army gave gifts to five families of typical national contributors in the locality, 15 poor households and students with good academic results, as well as clothing and calendars to the needy people through the communal Women’s Association.
* Over 1,000 children with adversity in life in Ho Chi Minh City have been provided with clothing, coupons for food, “lucky money” and Tet gifts from the Red Scarf Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City-based Housing Trade and Development Joint-Stock Company.

* On February 9, Company 78 of Army Corps 15 and Ia Lan Border Post of the Kon Tum Provincial Border Guard Command and local authorities jointly organized a green Chung cake festival in Mo Rai border commune, Sa Thay district, Kon Tum province.
The Company presented seven villages of minorities with pigs, glutinous rice and different spices.
* The Hung Yen Provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has visited and presented Tet gifts to wounded and sick soldiers, heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, Labor Heroes, and former prisoners of war as well as convalescent centers in and outside the province.
* Nearly VND 20 billion has been raised in Tra Vinh province to support over 26,000 national contributors, and 23,000 poor households.
* Quang Binh Province has been distributing over 1,334 tons of rice supported by the Government to needy people in the province.
* Commando Brigade 198 of the Commando Corps has granted 156 Tet gifts and over 2 tons of rice of poor households, national contributors, village patriarchs in Krong Pach, M’Drak districts and Buon Ma Thuot city in Dak Lak province.
* In the evening of February 10, the Labor Union of Ho Chi Minh City organized a program gathering 600 needy workers’ families who could not enjoy Tet at their home towns. Practical Tet gifts were presented to the participants.
