Nguyen Van Khai, Deputy Director of the ministry’s Centre for Science and Technology Communication, said preparations for the seventh round are well under way. The awards recognize authors of outstanding scientific and technological works that demonstrate exceptional scientific value and long-term socio-economic impact, contributing significantly to national development, defense, security, and the advancement of science and technology in Vietnam. The awards are held every five years to honor the most notable contributions of the country’s scientific community.

For this round, grassroots-level councils will conduct evaluations from December 1 to 31, 2025, followed by ministerial-level councils completing their reviews before April 15, 2026.

The ministry will receive dossiers for the national-level review until 5p.m. on May 8, 2026 for regular submissions, and until 5p.m. on May 15, 2026 for classified dossiers. The national-level council is scheduled to complete evaluations in September 2026 and submit results to the Prime Minister by late November 2026.

The awards were first launched in 1996. Its sixth edition in 2022 awarded 12 Ho Chi Minh Awards and 17 State Awards, excluding classified works.
