At the event, delegates reviewed the achievements of voluntary activities within the framework of the summer youth volunteer campaign over the past 20 years (2000-2019).

Particularly, over 50,000 classes to eliminate illiteracy were organized for over 450,000 people. The volunteers repaired and built more than 287,000km of rural road, repaired over 182,000 houses and constructed 67,431 others.

During the last two decades, HCYU units at all levels sent teams to give health check-ups and medical treatment to nearly 15 million people.

Additionally, blood donation, part of the campaign, attracted over 2.7 million HCYU members and youngsters. As a result more than 1.8 million blood units were collected.

Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan acknowledged and praised the efforts of the union’s members and all volunteers.

He called on all youngsters to continue promoting their empathy and responsibility to support disadvantaged people in remote areas.

On this occasion, various meaningful programs were launched such as a blood donation campaign and a gift giving ceremony for needy patients at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, a parade to mark the International Volunteer Day (December 5) and so on.
