One day earlier, Liberia’s Bulk Japan vessel was en route from China to Singapore. When it passed Da Nang waters, Filipino sailor Alcarez Peter II Alesna, born in 1973, met an accident while working at the ship’s cellar.
The sailor suffered severe injuries in his backbone, chest, and especially his right hand. He also had breathing difficulty.
Upon receiving information of the Bulk Japan, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) provided guidance for the ship to head to Da Nang city.
The MRCC mobilised the SAR 274 rescue ship and teamed up with doctors of the 115 Emergency Aid Centre in Da Nang to rescue the wounded sailor.
When he was no longer in critical condition, the victim was rushed to Da Nang city for further treatment.
