Prominent attendees included General Pham Van Tra, former Minister of National Defense; General Ngo Xuan Lich, former Minister of National Defense; and Senior Lieutenant General Pham Thanh Ngan, former Chief of the VPA’s General Department of Political Affairs. Also in attendance were Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Deputy Minister of National Defense; former leaders of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and the General Department of Political Affairs; retired military generals residing in Hanoi; and leaders of units and organs under the Ministry of National Defense.

The event served as an opportunity for the Hanoi municipal authority and its people to express gratitude for the contribution of generations of VPA officers and soldiers. It was also a chance to gather valuable insights from retired generals to strengthen the whole-people defense posture in the capital.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh highlighted the capital's consistent efforts in recent years to invest in its local armed forces. He emphasized the importance of promoting the strength of the national unity bloc, and the combination of the defense-security tasks and the external relations activities, contributing to building and safeguarding the country. These efforts have helped maintain peace, political security, and social order in Hanoi, creating favorable conditions for economic and social development in the capital.

Chairman Tran Sy Thanh further stressed that the achievements of Hanoi are inseparable from the contribution of VPA officers and soldiers in general, and the generations of troops of the capital's armed forces in particular. He expressed pride and gratitude on behalf of the Hanoi municipal authorities and people to all VPA officers and soldiers, especially retired generals and high-ranking officers, who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for the country’s independence, freedom, and peace. He praised them as exemplary role models, embodying the courage and sacrifice of the "Uncle Ho's soldiers."

On behalf of Hanoi's leadership, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh wished the retired generals and senior officers good health and encouraged them to continue contributing their wisdom, and experience to the protection and development cause of both Hanoi and the nation.
