The Education Department of York in Ontario Province of Canada, on Nov 8th, inked a contract with the Khoi Nguyen Joint-Stock Company in Ho Chi Minh City to build the first Canadian International School (CIS) in Vietnam.

The school will be built at the cost of nearly VND 500 billion in Nha Ba District for secondary and tertiary education.

Besides Canadian curricula, students will also study basic subjects regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. As a result, students will be able to obtain two high-school certificates; one from Vietnam and one from Canada. In addition, several university subjects can also be done by ambitious students.

It is expected that CIS’s first academic year will start in September, 2009.
