PANO – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference on December 12 in Hanoi to review 10 years implementing the law on domestic violence prevention and control.
After 10 years of the law’s implementation, there have been encouraging results, especially in information dissemination and community activities. In general, domestic violence is gradually in decline in terms of cases compared to the previous 10-year period.

However, the figures have yet to fully reflect the current real situation while administrative fines, though enforced, have yet to be appropriate due to the special features of fined persons.
At the conference, various proposals were submitted, including enhancement in the supervision of the implementation of the law as well as related legal documents, supplements and amendments to the law to make it clearer for implementation, and heavier fines and penalties on those violating the law.
