PANO – The People’s Committee of Can Tho City launched an Electricity Saving Festival 2012 on November 4th, in response to the National Target Program on economical and efficient use of energy.
Addressing the launch ceremony, Nguyen Van Hop, Deputy General Director of the Southern Electricity Corporation, said Can Tho City is one of the typical localities in carrying out electricity saving models in hamlets and in resident quarters. In 2011, the city saved 24 million kWh of electricity, worth VND 25 billion.
Since the beginning of the year, 24 million kWh of electricity has been saved in the city, contributing to reducing pressure of power shortage, which has negatively impacted people’s daily life and production in the country in general, and in the city in particular.
Earlier, the City also organized a power saving contests for women and students from districts in the city.
