PANO - All nine Vietnamese students bagged home medals at the 2014 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) held in Taiwan and the 2014 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Kazakhstan, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Five students competing in IPhO won three gold and two silver medals. Specifically, the gold ones belong to Cao Ngoc Thai from Phan Boi Chau Gifted High School in Nghe An province, Do Thi Hue from the Gifted High School under the University of Natural Sciences of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Vu Thanh Trung Nam from Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School in Hanoi.
Two silver medalists are Dao Phuong Khoi from the Gifted High School under the University of Natural Sciences of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Pham Nguyen Tuan Anh from the Gifted High School under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
With the above medals, Vietnam was in the Top 10 obtaining highest results at 2014 IPhO.
Meanwhile, among the four medalists at IOI, three are from the Gifted High School under the University of Natural Sciences of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Ngo Hoang Anh Phuc, a 12 grader, won the silver medal while Do Xuan Viet and Nguyen Tien Trung Kien pocketed bronze medals. Another silver medalist is Nguyen Quang Dung from the Gifted High School of the Hanoi University of Pedagogy.
Vietnam also won 4 medals from the last IOI.
