Addressing the ceremony, head of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Fernando González Llort highlighted the significance of the day when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

He affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh's Testament has always been the guideline and a foundation for the Vietnamese people and the Communist Party of Vietnam to achieve sustainable development, making Vietnam a strong country with prosperous people and a fair, democratic, civilized society.

He expressed his confidence that Vietnam will continue making steady steps towards a modern, prosperous, and developed country.

Ambassador Le Quang Long affirmed that over the past 79 years, Vietnam’s National Day has been a great source of encouragement for generations of Vietnamese people in national development and international integration.

Uncle Ho's testament, with its timeless value, not only influences generations of young Vietnamese today but will forever be a source of inspiration for them to study and follow his moral example, ideology and lifestyle, he stated.

The diplomat also highlighted the support that the Cuban Party, State, and people have given to Vietnam in both the past struggle for independence and today's cause of "Doi Moi" (Renewal).

On September 1, the Vietnamese Embassy in Tanzania held a ceremony to mark the 79th anniversary of the National Day.

Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen highlighted Vietnam’s success over the past years and expressed her hope that the Vietnamese community and businesses will continue to promote the images of Vietnam, its land and people to the world.

She hailed the solidarity of the Vietnamese community in the African country, expressing her hope that Vietnamese people and businesses will continue to promote solidarity, overcome difficulties, and strive to gain more achievements, contributing to promoting the good image of the Vietnamese nation and people to local and international friends.

Within the event's framework, films on the history, culture, and tourism of Vietnam were screened. Participants also had a chance to enjoy traditional dishes and art performances of Vietnam.

Meanwhile in Canada, a Vietnamese national flag hoisting ceremony was held in Ottawa's City Hall. In his message, Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe held that Vietnam's National Day always holds a special place in the hearts of Vietnamese people everywhere, marking a historic moment of their national pride.

He affirmed that the capital Ottawa recognized the importance of celebrating, which is to honor the spirit of the Vietnamese people and also to deepen the friendly relationship between the communities living together in the city.

Flag hoisting ceremony was also held in several other places of Canada, including Charlottetown and Toronto.
