The decision paves the way for the streamlining of the political system's organizational apparatus, with revisions focusing on the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the delimitation of administrative units, and the organization of local governments.

National Assembly deputies vote to adopt a resolution on amending and supplementing several articles of the Constitution 2013 on May 5.

The N.A. also approved the establishment of a drafting committee in charge of designing supplementations and amendments to the 2013 Constitution, with 446 out of the 446 deputies present voting in favor (93.31% of all deputies).

The committee will consist of 15 members and will be chaired by N.A. Chairman Tran Thanh Man. The deputy heads include Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, N.A. Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh, and Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.

The committee is tasked with drafting a resolution to revise the Constitution, consulting the public, agencies, and all levels of authorities, and incorporating their feedback, as well as that of N.A. deputies, before finalizing the draft for parliamentary approval.

Earlier, during a plenary debate, deputies expressed strong consensus on the need to revise the Constitution and to establish the drafting committee.
