Frugality and anti-wastefulness under NA scrutiny

The 24th session of the 12th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee will be held in Hanoi from September 28- 3 October to review the implementation of key national projects.
At the session, NA deputies will hear reports on the implementation of projects such as the Dzung Quat Oil Refinery No 1, the Son La hydro-electric power plant, 5 million hectares of forest and the Ho Chi Minh highway.
The Standing Committee will give opinions on investment in the Lai Chau hydro-electric power plant and NA supervisory activities in 2009. It will also hear reports on the implementation of the NA’s resolution to adjust the administrative boundaries of Hanoi and related provinces, and frugality and anti-wastefulness in 2009.
In addition, the auditing plan for 2010, a draft report on dealing with voters’ petitions since the fifth NA, and preparations for the sixth NA session will be discussed during the session.
The Government will report to the NA Standing Committee on the implementation of socio-economic tasks and the State budget estimates for 2009, plans for socio-economic development and the State budget and allocations for localities in 2010.
NA deputies will also contribute their opinions on six draft laws on telecommunications, TV frequency, the elderly, medical issues, civil defense and amendments and supplements to some articles of the education law.
