At the seminar

At the event, VUSTA President Phan Xuan Dung underlined that Vietnamese intellectuals are an important workforce in the country’s industrialization and modernization, and international integration as well as building a knowledge-based economy.

Along with the rapid development of the modern scientific and technological revolution, intellectuals have become a particularly important resource, creating the strength and position of each country, he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Mai Phan Dung held that overseas Vietnamese intellectuals are an integral part of the nation. They have made important contribution to the national construction and defense cause. Hence, the Party and State have issued a number of policies related to overseas Vietnamese over the past time.

In order to further bring into play the potential of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, Head of the VFF Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs and Overseas Vietnamese Tu Thanh Hue suggested relevant agencies remove unnecessary administrative procedures to overseas Vietnamese and create favorable conditions for them to run business in the homeland.

At the same time, Head of the Department for Economic Relations, Science and Technology under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Pham Viet Hung said that the country should further raise the quality of attracting and appointing intellectuals. Ministries and localities also need to study and develop a common mechanism for receiving and responding to suggestions from overseas Vietnamese experts and intellectuals.
