At the end of the operation, Vietnamese forces liberated over 3,000sq.km of land from Kampong Som to Koh Kong and the sea and island area of Cambodia, thereby contributing to the victory in the Southwestern border protection war.

The landed marines in the collaboration with Vietnamese volunteer units and the patriotic Cambodian armed forces completely ousted the Pol Pot regime.

The operation also reflected the Vietnamese Party’s and State’s viewpoint of “helping our friend means helping ourselves,” and affirmed the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two countries and peoples.

On the occasion, the delegates also offered incense and flowers at the relic site to commemorate heroic martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the cause of national liberation and international missions, contributing to the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People’s Navy and strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
