Reportedly, the steering board has embraced higher levels’ instructions and resolutions on the search, collection, and identification of martyrs' remains as well as built concrete plans and maps to implement the work.

Particularly, the steering board collected and processed information related to martyrs and their relatives. They have completed a list of 16,887 war martyrs, transferred a list of 13,373 fallen servicemen to localities, and tallied 334 local cemeteries of war martyrs to build a map for the search and repatriation of the martyrs' remains.

The relevant units in the military region searched, collected, and held a burial service for 538 sets of war martyrs’ remains and 420 sets of remains of Vietnamese experts and voluntary troops in Laos.

Speaking at the event, Major General Tran Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 2 and head of Steering Committee 515, spoke highly of the relevant units’ efforts while asking them to continue following higher levels’ instructions and collaborating with local authorities to identify the unknown martyrs.
