According to the team, those remains were found with the assistance of local people in Laos’ Savannakhet province, but their identities have yet to be identified.

As planned, delegates of Vietnam’s ministries and agencies and Quang Tri’s relevant units will hold a ceremony to pay homage to the fallen soldiers at Densavan pagoda (Savannakhet province) on May 7.

A handover ceremony will be held a day later at Lao Bao International Border Gate. The remains will be reburied in the Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province.

Vietnam’s Quang Tri province and Laos’ Savannakhet province will continue the search and collection of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors in the 2019 – 2020 dry season in accordance with the agreement between the Special Working Committee of the Vietnamese and Lao Governments.
