Lao radio lauds contribution by Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, advisors
The electronic portal of the Lao National Radio (LNR) has recently run an editorial praising the significant contribution of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers an advisors performing international missions in Laos on the occasion of their 75th foundation day (October 30, 1949 - 2024).
The article recalled that after Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Lao Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong decided to establish the Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance in 1946, and following President Ho's teachings of “helping friends is helping ourselves,” hundreds of Vietnamese individuals crossed the majestic Truong Son mountain range to perform their international duty in Laos.

In 1972, the Vietnam-Laos alliance successfully carry out the defense campaign in the Plain of Jars - Xiengkhouang - Muang Soui, firmly safeguarding the strategic territory of the Lao revolution. |
Vietnamese military officers and soldiers shared hardships with the Lao revolutionary military and people, and together they achieved victories in many battles, most notably the glorious Dien Bien Phu victory in Vietnam in May 1954 which forced the French colonialists to surrender and sign the Geneva Accords on Indochina, paving the way for independence for the three Indochinese countries and dismantling old-style colonial domination worldwide.
In the 20-year war against the U.S. imperialists, the militaries and peoples of Laos and Vietnam continued to fight side by side for the independence of both countries. They created a glorious historical epic, laying the foundation for the complete liberation of both countries in 1975 and enabling them to together advance firmly on the path towards socialism for nearly 50 years, the article wrote.
Although many decades have passed, the memory and gratitude of the Lao Party, State, and people towards the immense contributions and sacrifices of the Vietnamese military and people for Laos's revolutionary cause will never fade and always remain deep in the hearts of the Lao people. The Lao Party, State, and people are committed to continuing to protect, preserve, and develop the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, worthy of the sacrifices made by Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors, wrote the editorial.
