Gifts presented to landmine victims in Huong Khe district
PANO - On May 21, in Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province, the Vietnam Association for Supporting UXO/Mine Action Efforts (VNASMA), in collaboration with the Hoa Hoa Binh (Peace Flowers) Fund and the district’s People’s Committee, organized a program to raise awareness about mine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) accident prevention, provide livelihood models to landmine victims, and donate bicycles to disadvantaged students as part of the first phase of 2025.
Based on recommendations from the district’s Military Command, Department of Education and Training, Health Office, and Department of Home Affairs, the program delivered 25 livelihood support models, each worth VND 6 million, to landmine victims, and 12 bicycles, each worth VND 2 million, to underprivileged students.

Speaking at the event, VNASMA’s Standing Vice Chairman, Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Khoa, noted that over nearly 11 years, the association has disseminated mine accident prevention information to local communities, supported livelihood models for more than 6,000 victims, and presented gifts and bicycles to numerous disadvantaged students. He expressed hope that local residents and students would continue to raise their awareness of mine safety, and that landmine victims would make the most of the livelihood models to improve their economic conditions and escape poverty sustainably.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Nguyen Huy Luong from Ha Linh Commune pledged to use the support responsibly by investing in appropriate livestock, enhancing animal husbandry skills, managing the funding effectively, and contributing to local community development.

On this occasion, VNASMA’s General Secretary, Major General Tran Hong Cong, awarded the Medal for the Cause of Post-War Mine Action to several key officials of Huong Khe District.
During the event, many local students watched an educational video on mine accident prevention and participated in a survey to assess their awareness of landmine safety..
