Apart from victims, the Association has also supported impoverished households, ethnic minorities, and communities in heavily UXO contaminated areas.
Since 2017, in former Quang Binh province (now Quang Tri province), 56 victim families have received total support of VND 672 million .
This time, 50 victims in Bac Trach and Hoan Lao communes received VND 300 million in total, with 25 recipients from each commune.
According to Col. Binh, though the support remains limited, it reflects ongoing efforts to help victims overcome poverty caused by war consequences.
He called for continued support to help victims develop their livelihoods and achieve stable lives. He also urged stronger cooperation with organizations and individuals to reduce the impacts of UXO.
Vice Chairman of Bac Trach commune People’s Committee Phan Thanh Hai stated that the support provided motivation and confidence for victims to improve their lives and economic conditions. He expressed his belief that recipients will effectively use the support to enhance their livelihoods.
During the program, students from Lien Trach Secondary School of Bac Trach commune and Hoa Trach Primary School of Hoan Lao commune performed various activities to raise awareness of landmine/UXO.
