Dien Bien reburies 30 sets of martyrs’ remains
PANO – The Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee on May 22 and 23 received and reburied 30 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who had sacrificed their lives while serving in the neighboring country of Laos.
Offering incense to martyrs
These sets of remains, collected in Laos’ Northern localities by the search and collection team of Military Region 2, were reburied at Tong Khao war cemetery in Dien Bien district.
Under the wholehearted support from Laotians, in the dry season of 2016-2017, the team found and collected 35 sets of remains of Vietnamese fallen volunteer soldiers and specialists who had laid down their lives in Laos during the resistance wars against the French colonists and American imperialists.
Of the total, only five sets of martyrs’ remains were identified and handed over to their families to rebury at war cemeteries in their homeland.
