The figure was announced by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) at a meeting with the media on January 9 to introduce the outcome of its task performance.
According to the reports at the meeting, last year, the ministry submitted to the Prime Minister for approval of national contribution certificates for 456 martyrs, and re-issuing certificates for nearly 30,000 others. It also documented and provided financial packages, worth VND 270 billion, to 33,770 people.
Moreover, the ministry gave top priority to processing remaining dossiers based on results of the implementation of preferential policies for national contributors in 2014-2015.
Apart from samples of martyrs’ remains, the ministry took 1,000 samples of martyrs’ relatives for DNA testing and identified 271 martyrs.
Noticeably, more than 1,173 martyrs’ remains were repatriated and re-buried last year. 98.5 percent of families of national contributors had their living standard equal and even higher than the average living standard of locals.
Also at the meeting, the ministry announced its performance in fields of labor, job, poverty reduction, children protection and care, gender equality and social evil prevention and control.
Addressing the meeting, MOLISA’s Deputy Minister Dao Hong Lan confirmed that the ministry would continue implementing preferential policies for revolutionary contributors. This year celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Invalids and Martyrs’ Day; therefore, the ministry would organize more activities to promote the care for national contributors and families of revolutionary contributors.
