The activity was to mark the 76th anniversary of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - 2023).

During the visit, Gen. Gau extended his best wishes for good health, happiness, and a joyful life to the wounded and sick soldiers. He also expressed his appreciation for the dedication and commitment of all the staff at the center, encouraging them to remain strong and fulfill their duties diligently.

The GDP’s deputy director emphasized the continuous care and support provided by the Party and State to wounded soldiers, martyrs' families, and individuals who contributed to the revolution. He highlighted the efforts of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) in proposing various policies related to the military, with a focus on addressing war consequences.

The military has also been actively involved in gratitude activities and efforts to locate and identify the remains of martyrs. In 2022 and the first half of 2023, nearly 2,000 sets of martyrs’ remains have been located within the country and abroad. Moreover, the military has assisted over 44,000 individuals who participated in the resistance war and the international missions, providing one-time assistance, worth over VND 108 billion in total. Additionally, affiliated units have built 2,179 gratitude houses, worth nearly VND 200 billion and provided support to nearly 1,000 heroic Vietnamese mothers.

On the occasion, Gen. Gau presented gifts of the CMC and MND to Kim Bang Convalescent Center for Wounded Soldiers.

* On the same day, in Phu Tho province, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, led a delegation to visit, encourage, and present gifts to the wounded and sick soldiers at the Convalescent Center for National Contributors in Phu Tho province. During the program, Gen. Tan handed over gifts of the CMC and MND to the center.

At the center, Gen. Tan kindly inquired after and encouraged the wounded and sick soldiers, empathizing with the pain of their injuries. He expressed deep gratitude for the significant contributions and sacrifices made by the wounded and sick soldiers, who bravely fought for the fatherland’s independence and freedom.

Furthermore, the deputy chief of the General Staff sincerely thanked the staff at the center for their wholehearted care and support to the wounded and sick soldiers. He wished the center will continue providing the best care for the material and spiritual well-being of the wounded and sick soldiers.

Prior to this, the MND held a handover ceremony to present a gratitude house to Mr. Vu Van Dai, a wounded soldier in Ha Thach commune, Phu Tho town, Phu Tho province. The 102 sq.m-area house, was constructed with the support of VND 80 million from the gratitude fund of the MND.

The same day, Gen. Tan also visited the Phu Tho Provincial Military Command. After listening to the unit’s report, he praised achievements of its task performance and emphasized the need for the command to continue closely monitoring the local situation and making early and accurate forecasts. He also urged them to promptly advise the local authorities on building the defensive areas. The unit should prioritize directing training exercises to achieve good results, while also building clean and strong Party organizations and a comprehensively strong unit. Additionally, they should intensify gratitude activities, taking care of policy beneficiaries, especially on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day.
