More remains of Vietnamese martyrs repatriated from Laos
A ceremony was held at the Tong Khao martyr’s cementary in the Northwestern mountainous province of Dien Bien on June 23 to rebury the remains of eight Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives in Laos during the wartime.
The remains were found and collected during the past six months by a repatriation team of Military Region 2 with the support by authorities and people of six northern Lao provinces.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vu A highlighted the long-lasting solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, especially in the revolutionary struggle against the common invaders.
The great dedication and sacrifice by the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers during the war in Laos have become a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism and aspiration for independence and freedom, he said.
He expressed his deep gratitude to the Lao government's special working committee, authorities and people of six Northern Lao provinces for creating all favourable conditions for the Military Region 2’s search team to complete their tasks.
Since 1994, the Military Region 2’s search team repatriated remains of 1,812 Vietnamese martyrs.
