Candle-lighting program held in tribute to fallen soldiers in Dien Bien
PANO - A candle-lighting program was held at A1 National War Cemetery in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province on July 21 to mark the 76th anniversary of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 – 2023).
The event attracted the participation of former Dien Bien soldiers and more than 200 cadres, troops, and youths, representing young people of ethnic minority groups in the whole province.
In a solemn atmosphere, delegates and youths offered incense, laid flowers, and lit candles in remembrance of heroes who laid down their lives for national independence and freedom. They together recalled great contribution and sacrifices of former generations, fallen soldiers, and locals in the national salvation and reunification cause.
This gratitude event also aimed to educate young generations of revolutionary ideal and traditions, thus arousing their patriotism and responsibilities for current national construction and defense cause.
Within the program, youths from central businesses handed over around VND 1.2 billion to assist the construction of unity houses for ethnic minority people in Dien Bien province. The organizing panel also presented gifts and cash to former Dien Bien soldiers and children of policy families.
