A staff from Production Team 5 gives haircut to Cha Lau villagers.

Many people in Cha Lau village, Nam Giai commune, Nghe An province’s Que Phong district visit Production Team 5 and the “Zero VND house.”

This nearly 30 sq.m house has a thatched roof, a cement floor, and wooden plank walls. Inside the house is a free barber shop, and outside are shelves of clothes for people to freely choose from.

Carefully choosing suitable clothes neatly arranged and classified on the shelves, Ha Thi Tam from Cha Lau village joyfully said, “I am happy to meet local people here and choose the clothes I like.” Lo Van Thu, another Cha Lau villager, shared that his hair was long, so he came to the house for haircut by local troops.

The “Zero VND house” was opened in early January this year and operates from Wednesdays to Saturdays. This was built by officers and employees of Production Team 5 at a cost of more than VND 10 million, extracted from the unit’s production fund. It is located right behind the unit's welcome gate.

To have suitable clothes to serve local people, the unit called on its officers, soldiers, relatives and friends to donate. Before placed on shelves, the clothes were classified, washed, dried and ironed.

With this house model, the unit has provided over 500 sets of clothes for locals and haircuts for more than 30 people.

Major Nguyen Vo Thong, Head of Production Team 5, said that in the coming time, the team will continue and develop this model. They will call for joint efforts from the community to further support local people.
