* A mission from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff laid wreaths and offered incense to commemorate fallen soldiers at War Martyrs’ Cemeteries of Chau Thanh District and Tinh Bien district’s Doc Ba Dac in An Giang province on July 19.

The mission showed their deep gratitude to heroes and fallen troops who had sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom and for participating in noble international obligations.

Also in An Giang province, the mission presented gifts to 15 families of wounded and fallen soldiers in Binh Hoa commune.

* The same day, General Department II organized a military-civilian medical program in Hung Thuan commune, Trang Bang townlet, Tay Ninh province.

Under the program, the unit held an artistic exchange with local people and provided free health checkups and medicines for over 300 policy beneficiaries. They also presented gifts to 120 wounded and sick soldiers, national contributors, elderly and poor people, and heroic Vietnamese mothers.

* Army Corps 4 handed over VND 80 million to two policy families in Thoi Thuan village (Thoi Thanh commune, Can Tho city’s Thoi Lai district) to build gratitude and “great unity” houses to help them ease housing difficulty. The activity was part of its program “the army joins hands in building new-style rural areas in 2020.”

On the occasion, the corps visited, presented gifts, and offered free health check-ups and medicines to local policy beneficiaries and poor students.

* Nearly 600 relatives of policy families and national contributors in five communes and wards in Hoa Binh province and Hanoi city were given free health checkups, health counseling, medicines and gifts by Army Officer Training School No 1.

* The Department of Logistics under Military Region 4 and the Economic Department under the Ministry of National Defense visited and gave gifts to national contributors and disadvantaged households in Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province.              

Also in the district, the two units presented VND 80 million each to families of wounded soldier Nguyen Van Dong, widow Dau Thi Khoa whose husband died in the war, and lonely national contributor Le Thi The to build gratitude houses.          

* A mission from the Vietnamese Women’s Union visited heroic Vietnamese mother Le Thi Cach whose two sons were martyrs, and heroic Vietnamese mother Ngo Thi Quyt whose husband and son sacrificed their lives in the resistance war against foreign invaders.

During the visit, the mission inquired after the mothers’ health and expressed deep gratitude to them for their great contributions to the national salvation and Fatherland protection cause.

* The Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of Tank Brigade 215 under the Tank-Armoured Corps inaugurated and handed over a gratitude house to the unit’s staff First Lieutenant Nguyen Huu Chung, a non-commissioned officer and driver. The house was built with VND 80 million from the brigade’s Gratitude Fund.

* On July 19, Hospital 199 under the Ministry of Public Security in cooperation with other organizations provided free health checkups and medicines to over 200 policy beneficiaries and national contributors in Hoa Thuan Dong ward, Hai Chau district, Da Nang city. The joint forces also presented gifts to national contributors in Da Nang city and the locality where Hospital 199 is stationed.

* Between July 17 and 19, representatives of the Hanoi Veterans’ Business Association attended memorial services for five out of six fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives while serving missions on islands in the Truong Sa archipelago. Their remains were brought home by the Navy. The association presented gifts, worth over VND 70 million, to the families of the six fallen troops.

* More than 100 policy beneficiaries and national contributors in Tien Lang district, Hai Phong city were provided with free health checkups and medicines by the Department of Logistics under the Military Command of Hai Phong city and the Tien Lang district Military Command.

The joint forces also presented 30 electric fans, each worth VND 700,000, to local policy beneficiaries and needy families.

* Doctors from the Trade Union and Youth Union Organization, both under the Health Ministry gave health checkups, health counselling and presents to over 400 people in Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province.

The mission also presented medical equipment to the communal medical station and 20 gifts to local children in need.
