Military region conducts activities for martyrs’ and wounded soldiers’ day
PANO – Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, on April 21, led a mission to inspect the implementation of activities to mark the 70th Martyrs’ and Wounded Soldiers’ Day in Military Region 3 (MR3).
On behalf of the MR3 Command, Major General Dinh Xuan Ung, Deputy Chief of the Political Department, briefed the delegation on the region’s results of observing the anniversary over the past time.
Annually, MR3 spends billions of VND to build gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries, present gifts to wounded and sick soldiers under treatment at convalescent centers, take care of wounded soldiers’ children and Vietnamese heroic mothers, and provide jobs for relatives of martyrs and wounded soldiers.

Affiliated units under the region also offered VND 3.3 trillion to 700,000 policy beneficiaries and collected nine sets of remains of martyrs.
In order to mark the 70th anniversary of the Martyrs’ and Wounded Soldiers’ Day, MR3 announced a movement to build new 151 houses, worth VND 70 million each, for national contributors in localities of the region. Construction of these houses is expected to be completed before July 27 this year.
Addressing the meeting n, General Can highly valued MR3 ’s efforts for the day, adding that they should continue disseminating information and highlighting the significance of the Martyrs’ and Wounded Soldiers’ Day, with a focus on young generation.
Moreover, MR3 should promote the search and repatriation for remains of martyrs, launch emulation drives to heighten the “When drinking water, remember its source” tradition, and multiply examples on gratitude-related activities, he concluded.
