Village patriarch Senh is tasked with protecting the 4km-long borderline from Che Lau hamlet to Landmark No.325. Being born in Pa Hoc border hamlet, Pu Nhi commune, in 1990, he moved to Che Lau village. Spending most of his lifetime living in the area, he bears in mind each landmark from No.322 to No.325 and the shared borderline with Vieng Xay district, Huaphanh province, Laos. Therefore, he is well aware of his responsibility to protect the national borderline and landmarks and to help border guards safeguard the national sovereignty over border area.

In order to mobilize local people to join hands to do the task, he has disseminated information to each household in the hamlet so as to raise their awareness of the importance of protecting the national borderline and landmarks and combating any cases of illegal border crossings.

When troops of the Border Post of Na Meo International Border Gate visited and popularized information about the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s laws, as well as border regulations, and mobilized people to change farming methods and apply science and technology to livestock raising and farming, Village patriarch Senh also actively joined the event and together with the border troops, introduces useful information to the local residents.

Mr. Thao Van Lau, Secretary of Che Lau hamlet’s Party Cell, held that Village patriarch Senh is a responsible person. He usually helps needy households repair houses and encourages students to try their best to make contribution to the development of their village. Besides, he also mobilized locals to join hands to build the new-style rural area.

Meanwhile, he is an active member of all emulation movements and activities in the locality. In 2006, his family and local people wholeheartedly supported border troops to transport materials to build roads and border landmarks.

Lieutenant Colonel Truong Van Hai, Commander of the Border Post of Na Meo International Border Gate, said that Village patriarch Senh has assisted them in performing tasks in the area. In order to help locals stabilize their life, the unit implemented practical activities and instructed them to develop economy and reduce poverty. The unit also takes due care of Village patriarch Senh so that he can better protect the national borderline and landmarks.

After more than 30 years of doing the noble task, Village patriarch Senh has been honored with many certificates of merit. However, for him, the most valuable present is the sentiments and support of local people and the trust from border troops.
