Tet greetings extended to village patriarchs in border areas
PANO - The Party Committee and leaders of the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command held a meeting with 49 village patriarchs and prestigious people from ethnic minority groups in seven local border communes on January 20.
Over the past years, the command has directed its affiliates to boost ties with local people, cooperate with village patriarchs and other prestigious people to promote information dissemination on the Party’s guidelines and the State’s laws. These activities have helped raise locals’ awareness and vigilance of hostile forces’ plots of sabotage.

The provincial border guards have also encouraged local people to take care of the borders, maintain social order and safety, make contributions to eliminating poverty in localities, stabilizing locals’ lives, and fosterinf local economic development as well.
Addressing the event, Secretary of Gia Lai provincial Party Committee Ho Van Nien hailed village patriarchs and prestigious people for their important contributions to the Fatherland construction and protection cause and safeguarding national borders, security, and sovereignty.
He asked village patriarchs and prestigious people to continue to heighten their revolutionary spirit, and being key members in local revolutionary movements. In addition, they should keep encouraging locals to boost production, build a cultural life in residential areas, and build new-style rural areas. Furthermore, they should work closely with local border guards to guide local people to raise vigilance, follow laws, and not follow reactionaries.
As the lunar New Year (Tet) 2021 is coming, Nien presented Tet gifts and extended his best wishes to all 49 village patriarchs and prestigious people.
