Truong Sa troops donate blood to save injured fisherman
PANO – Six troops of Truong Sa island district (Khanh Hoa province) donated 1,250ml of blood to save a fisherman in critical hemorrhagic condition, informed Truong Sa island district’s Medical Center on June 27.

Fisherman Le Van Lai, 47, from Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh province was hospitalized on June 23 in a critical condition while working on board trawler numbered BD 98128. The patient was exhausted due to severe gastrointestinal hemorrhage and the doctors suspected that he has gastric ulcer.
The medical center quickly called Military Hospital 175 for telemedicine support and the hospital's doctors diagnosed that the patient needs immediate blood transfusion to save his life.
After the screening, only six soldiers on the island could donate blood as AB is a rare blood group. Thanks to the timely blood transfusion and active treatment,the patient overcame the critical condition and is now recovering.
