Troops took the patient ashore for treatment |
Earlier, while fishing in the waters of Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands, 38-year-old fisherman Nguyen Hoan (from Hoai Hai commune, Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh province) on fishing ship BD 97062 TS suffered a severe pain in his lumbar which also spread to his left foot. It left him with numbness and the inability to walk.
Hoan was immediately brought to the infirmary on Phan Vinh Island. He was diagnosed to have spinal disc herniation with a risk of lower limb paralysis.
Due to the patient's critical condition, the infirmary’s doctors gave him first aid and sent him to Hospital Ship 561, so that he could be taken ashore for further treatment.
The patient has recovered and been handed over to his family.
