Naval unit actively supports fishermen
PANO - The Naval Region 5 Command and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kien Giang province just signed a program entitled “Vietnam People’s Navy supports fishermen at sea.”
Under the program, the two sides will boost information dissemination to raise awareness and responsibility of fishermen in safeguarding national sovereignty over the seas and islands as well as in observing the Vietnamese laws and international conventions at sea.

They will also carry out a number of activities to make fishermen feel safe while fishing offshore, to protect fishermen operating in the national waters, and to encourage them to participate in safeguarding national sovereignty over the seas and islands.
On the occasion, the Naval Region 5 Command presented gifts to local national contributors and people with adversity in life, handed over 150 national flags, 15 life-jackets, 15 round buoys to local fishermen and provided free health check-ups and medicines to nearly 100 people in need.
