Troops help localities overcome consequences of natural disasters and fires
PANO – Military units and localities in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Ca Mau provinces and Ho Chi Minh City have mobilized more than 1,600 people and 76 vehicles to help local people overcome the consequences of natural disasters and fires over the past three days.
The information was announced by the Department for Search and Rescue of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on June 23.
According to the department, on June 21 the whirlwind swept through Tan Hoa commune, Tan Chay district of Tay Ninh province, blowing off the roofs of 168 houses and damaging eight hectares of crop. Fifty one troops from the Tay Ninh provincial Border Guard Command in collaboration with local residents overcame the consequences.

A similar whirlwind occurred in Khanh Thuan commune of Ca Mau province’s U Minh district, destroying 19 houses and unroofing 23 others. Twenty militiamen were mobilized to help local people overcome the consequences.
On June 22, a fire broke out in a 2.2-hectare pine forest in Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district of Nghe An province. The locality mobilized 910 troops, militiamen and local people to put out the fire.
Fires also happened in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Binh Duong provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. Six hundred and twenty five people and 27 vehicles participated in putting out the fires and helping local people overcome the aftermath.
