Border guards help locals mitigate natural disaster consequences
PANO – Troops of the Tam Thanh Border Guard Post under the Quang Tri provincial Border Guard Command were mobilized to help local people in A Xing commune, HuongHoa district, to overcome tornado consequences on April 28.
Previously, at about 22:00 on April 27, strong whirlwinds unroofed 18 houses in the commune. The total damage was estimated at VND 600 million.
After receiving the information, the Tam Thanh Border Guard Post sent 20 troops to the scene to help the disaster-hit victims tackle consequences of the tornado. The unit also provided them with 15kg of rice each and other necessities such as cooking oil, fish sauce and seasoning.
Colonel Le Van Hung, Commander of the Tam Thanh Border Post, said that despite the on-going national holiday, the unit sends 15 troops everyday to assist local residents in cleaning up the environment and repairing their houses, helping the victims resume their normal lives soon.
